Braai Boy Jägermeister burgers offer a quirky twist on a classic meat favourite. These melt-in-your-mouth creations are courtesy of Braai Boy, who insists that there is something heroic about bringing people together and lighting up up the usual braai fare with brave and inspiring gusto.
Who says you can’t have your Jäger and eat it too?

Braai Boy Jägermeister burgers
Ingredients
- 5ml (1 tsp) oil or butter
- 1 small onion, peeled and diced
- 150ml Jägermeister
- 600g beef mince
- salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 egg
- 4 hamburger buns
- garnish of your choice (lettuce, onion, tomato, etc.)
Instructions
Place the oil/butter in a saucepan and heat it over a hot fire. Add the diced onion to the pan. Once the onion starts to brown, add the Jägermeister. Fry until the Jägermeister reduces and becomes sticky. Remove from the grill and allow to cool.
Place the mince in a mixing bowl and add spices, to taste. Add the cooled Jägermeister onions to the bowl. Crack an egg into the bowl and mix well using your hands. Separate the mince into 4 equal portions and roll into balls.
Flatten each ball into a patty and place on a medium fire. Braai until medium-rare (or as desired). Just before your patties are done, slice and toast your hamburger buns.
Remove the patties from the fire and build your burgers, using garnish, as desired.
Notes
COOK’S TIP: Less is more when it comes to garnishing your Jäger Burger. You don't want to mask the spicy Jägermeister notes in your burger, but feel free to add a slice of cheese or a sauce of your choice.
