How to cook dry pasta perfectly

The secret to cooking the perfect dry pasta is 1, to make sure your pot is big enough and have enough water in it and 2, make sure you have a timer on to make sure you are not over cooking or under cooking your pasta. The average cooing time for pasta is 10-12 minutes

  1. First off it to always make sure you have enough salted boiling water to cook the dry pasta in. There should be about 1 litre of water to every 100g of pasta.
  2. Once the water is rapidly boiling, add the dry pasta. Keep stirring if you’re cooking pastas like linguine or spaghetti to separate the pieces.
  3. Adding oil to the water makes it difficult for the sauce to “stick” to the pasta.
  4. Always add the pasta to the sauce and not vice versa. It makes it easier to distribute the sauce evenly.
  5. Cooking time varies depending on the shape of the pasta. Cook the pasta uncovered until it is al dente.
  6. Al dente means “to the tooth”. To check if pasta is cooked al dente, it should be soft yet firm when you bite into it – if it has some texture to it yet is dry and hard in the middle, it is done.
