Celebrate women’s month at the Cradle Boutique Hotel with the Wine, Women and Song Festival and the Contemporary African Pop Art Exhibition
Following the huge success of its event last year, the Cradle Boutique Hotel celebrates Women’s Month with a top line-up of activities at its Wine, Women & Song Festival on Saturday, 11 August and the Contemporary African Pop art exhibition on Saturday, 11 August and Sunday, 12 August.
The superb Cradle Boutique Hotel is situated in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage site that’s home to around 40% of the world’s human ancestor fossils.
The Wine, Women & Song Festival features a variety of premium South African wine, craft gin and vodka, produced by talented women.
Meet Glyn French and her range of award-winning Flowstone Gins. Her signature botanicals create delicious flavour profiles from the unique vegetation found in the Cradle of Humankind.
Staying in the region, Joburg-based gin and vodka producer Jacqueline Grobler from Angel Heart Beverages will delight you with her range of artisanal Ginifer & Westcliff gins and Ginifer Bitters. She will also offer a delicate triple-distilled vodka, especially presented for Women’s Month and with some of the proceeds supporting breast cancer awareness.
Premium wines producers include: Catherine Marshall, Valdo Prosecco, Bartinney (Ronnel Wild), The Garajeest (Callan Williams), Mitre’s Edge (Lolla Nichols), Wildehurst (Sheree Nothnagel), Holden Manz (Annamarie Fourie), Simonsig (Francois-Jacques Malan), Ken Forrester, Cederberg (David Nieuwoudt), Beyerskloof (Beyers Truter), Diemersdal (Thys Louw) and Haute Cabrière (Achim von Arnim).
Entry into the wine tasting venue costs R130 per adult, including a tasting glass. All ticketing proceeds from the wine tasting event will be donated to the Cradle Boutique Hotel’s charity, the African Digital Education Trust’s Westbury, Johannesburg, campus.
As a bonus the festival will also showcase award-winning olive oils from Morgenster.
For the Contemporary African Pop art exhibition, curators Brenton Maart and Sally Shorkend present the third in the Bank series of new work by young contemporary South African artists.
Proceeds from the exhibition will also benefit the African Digital Education Trust.
Children can join the Cradle Explorers Club, with trained field guides taking the youngsters on a two-hour nature walk expedition. The cost is R85 per child, including a tasty bites-packed picnic box.
Guests are encouraged to pre-book a table at the Cradle Boutique Hotel’s restaurant, with its scrumptious à la carte options. All wines at the tasting event will be on offer either in case lots, or by the bottle, to be enjoyed with your lunch or picnic.
