Whether you prefer hard boiled eggs or a runny yolk, there are a few easy steps you could take to get the perfect boiled eggs each and every time, just how you like them!
The first steps to egg-cellent eggs
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Ensure that there is enough water in the pot to cover the eggs completely.
Once the water is boiling, lower the heat to reduce the bubbles (this step is important to prevent the eggs from bouncing around in the pot and cracking). Gently place the eggs in the water, after which you increase the temperature to boil again.
As soon as the water is at boiling point, set your timer. The specific time will be determined by the desired outcome that you want:
Timing is key
4 minutes: The yolk is liquidy and the white is still a bit soft.
6 minutes: A soft yolk with a firmer white.
8 minutes: A medium-soft yolk.
10 minutes: A nearly hard boiled egg with a bit of softness still in the yolk.
15 minutes: A traditional hard boiled egg.
When the timer goes off…
Gently remove he eggs from the pot and place them in a bowl of ice water. This not only cools them off and makes it easier for you to peel, but stops the eggs from cooking further.
Now all that’s left to do is peel and enjoy!
