Carrot and peanut-butter doggie treats

Why should Rover miss out on all the beta-carotenes in orange veggies? These quick and easy treats are fab for our furry friends and the recipe welcomes substitutions – so, butternut or orange sweet potato can both be used, either in place of, or in conjunction with, the carrots.

Carrot and peanut butter doggie treats

Serves: 24
Cooking Time: 1 hr 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 130g wholewheat flour/oat bran
  • 70g wheatgerm
  • 250g peanut butter
  • 130g raw carrots, finely grated
  • 60ml (¼ cup) milk, to use as needed

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven to 180˚C. Combine all of the ingredients in a medium bowl and mix together thoroughly, using a spatula, until well combined. Add a little milk if the mixture is too stiff.

2

Roll out the mixture on a floured surface to approximately 1,5cm thickness. Cut out using bone-shaped cookie cutters, or cut into fingers of about 5cm x 3cm.

3

Place the biscuits on a non-stick baking sheet and bake in the oven until golden brown, 20 minutes. Allow to cool on a wire rack. These will keep stored in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
