MOURAD: NEW MOROCCAN
(Artisan, R447)

Accidental chef Mourad Lahlou abandoned his economics degree to open Aziza in San Francisco, the only Moroccan restaurant in North America to be awarded a Michelin star. Mourad’s recipes are rich in tradition, yet contemporary in style. With his wonderful blend of spices used in simple dishes like the lentil soup right through to the lamb shank with spiced prunes and brown butter faro, the fragrant aromas almost waft off the pages.

ITALIAN FOOD SAFARI
(Hardie Grant Books, R419)

Filled with a mosaic of down-toearth dishes that are all about ‘la dolce vita’, Italian Food Safari has been lovingly compiled by award-winning journalist and foodie Maeve O’Meara and Australian chef and restaurant owner Guy Grossi. The delightful cookery proverbs woven among classic recipes like osso buco and saltimbocca are great reminders of that famous Italian charm.
