From the moment you step inside the vibrant and colourful space that is Zama Restaurant & Prohibition Bar, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the streets of Mozambique.
The decor at Zama is inspired by the vibrant culture and traditions of the beautiful country, with large woven lights and umbrellas in bright blues, reds and yellows hanging from the ceiling.
It’s a two-story building with a bright and airy feel. You can sit downstairs amid the action or settle into a blue velvet booth upstairs and enjoy watching the bustle below.
One of the standout features of Zama is the prohibition bar, hidden in the corner of the restaurant. With dim lighting and stone walls, it has a completely different feel from the rest of the restaurant.
The low wooden ceiling and concrete floors make it feel like an underground speakeasy, perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic date.
The menu at Zama is inspired by Mozambique and features plenty of grills, seafood and spice. The classic chicken prego roll is a must-try, and for seafood lovers, there are prawn rissoles, half-moon-breaded pastries stuffed with spicy prawn.
You can also try the oven-roasted and brandy-flambéd chorizo, which is a definite crowd-pleaser.
The cocktail list at Zama is extensive and features classics as well as signature cocktails like the Strawberry Negroni with muddled strawberries and the Devil’s Margarita, topped off with red wine.
You can also take advantage of the lunch specials offered from 12pm to 4pm on Monday through Friday. Order a prego chicken or beef roll, beer-battered hake, or fresh kingklip and get a free glass of wine or 330ml beer.
The friendly staff at Zama are always happy to help you choose the perfect dish or cocktail and pride themselves on providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
With its vibrant decor, delicious food and extensive cocktail list, Zama is the perfect spot for a quick lunch, a romantic dinner, or a night out with friends.
