The annual Shiraz & Charcuterie Festival, which takes place at Anthonij Rupert Wine in Franschhoek on Saturday 25 May (11am to 4pm), makes for the perfect late autumn outing, combining some of the country’s finest shiraz wines paired with charcuterie from artisanal producers.
Eighteen of the country’s top shiraz-producing estates will be on offer for tasting. These include Anthonij Rupert Wyne, Thelema Mountain Vineyards, Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines, Waterford Estate, Stark-Condé Wines and Hartenberg Wine Estate.
These superlative shirazes will be paired with a selection of local and international charcuterie, as well as the Anthonij Rupert Wyne Harvest Table – think fresh seasonal salads, homemade truffle arancini, estate olives, jalapeños, creamy tomato soup and pulled Moroccan lamb shoulder.
Pre-booking is essential as tickets are limited. Tickets cost R295 pp and include entry and tastings of the wines on show. Children under 18 years of age enter for free. Book directly via webtickets.co.za.
