River Meadow Manor, a prominent boutique hotel, conference and wedding venue in Pretoria was recently acquired by celebrated South African hotelier, Siyanda Dlamini and the launch of the new ownership was celebrated at a sumptuous festive feast for business partners, colleagues and media. Dlamini was excited to showcase his venue and some of the delectable dishes on the menu that will make up the showstopper Christmas lunch special at this beautiful property that once belonged to Jan Smuts.
The Christmas lunch menu, curated by Chef James Griffiths, featured only the freshest locally grown and seasonal ingredients and included beef bitterballen, roast Lebanese lamb and festive gammon, fresh oysters and line fish, jewelled rice, glazed ginger carrots, chocolate yule log and a classic French croquemboche.
The luxurious accommodation at River Meadow Manor boasts a variety of facilities and 30 guest rooms available for weddings or events overlooking the landscaped gardens lined with 100-year-old oak trees. There are five different conference venues and the gardens are ideal for an al fresco breakfast, lunch or dinner. In its heyday, the 1929 manor house was used by Jan Smuts and his wife, Isie as their entertainment home and its heritage lives on in a new multicultural setting today.
2020 will see the launch of an exclusive 250-seater glass conservatory, a 350-seater multi-purpose conference venue and a bespoke wedding chapel with possible plans for a spa in the pipeline. The property falls under Dlamini’s Level 1 BEE hotel management company, Tribute Hospitality Group.
The hotel feels like a country escape with lush green pastures and towering oak trees, yet remains conveniently close to two major city centres and is just 20 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport.
