This one is for those of you looking for more environmentally friendly options to everyday products. The Earthbound Wine range includes white and red wine varietals that are organic- and Fairtrade-accredited. Produced on the farm Papkuilsfontein outside Darling, Earthbound Wines exclude the use of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, chemical fertilisers or any other synthetic chemicals during its production.
The initiative is also rooted in the Fairtrade tradition of sharing profits with workers to be used at their discretion to uplift the community; and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the wine industry through the transfer of skills. Earthbound believes that what is good for the earth is good for its people, and vice versa.
One of the stand out wines in the range is the Earthbound Cabernet Sauvignon. The Earthbound Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 was awarded with the Organically Grown Overall Winner award and the Organically Grown Best Red at the Nedbank Green Awards 2016. This dark red wine is easy to drink and brimming with intense red fruit and caramel flavours. The wine pairs perfectly with red meat dishes like steaks, casseroles, beef ribs or even a good burger with smoky barbeque sauce. The Cabernet Sauvignon is also a great accompaniment to blue cheeses such as a soft gorgonzola.
