What’s not to love about Pinot Noir?

There’s really only one wine that embodies the unfathomable mystery that is romantic love. Amorous, succulent and fleshy with a voluptuous perfume, no other red is as silky or seductive as Pinot Noir. Its colour is a garnet red blush and when it comes to sexy, Pinot Noir owns it!

Pinot Noir is an enchanting wine variety with a quirky personality; part of the fanaticism around this varietal stems from the challenge farmers experience growing it and winemakers face producing it. (Also known as the heartbreak grape) Pinot Noir is particular, sensitive and allows little room for error; it needs special care and attention and growing this fruit is more courtship than cultivation. Turning the grape into a wine offers no respite from the fastidious care as delicacy and capriciousness require attention and charisma. It’s not easy, but the best things never are and success offers soulful passion and transcendent beauty that quickly dispels any hardship.

Pinot Noir and duck are a sure-fire bet, the fatty duck is chaperoned to marvellous heights by Pinot Noir’s acidity and freshness, a spiced duck with confit ragù or duck breast with pomegranate-citrus glaze are memorable pairings.

Pinot Noir also loves mushrooms; the wilder, the better. Roast them with herbs and dress them up with a little cream or garlic topped with a poached egg.
