Classic tomato sauce
The perfect basic tomato sauce that can be used in countless recipes!
DAIRY FREE | GLUTEN FREE | HEALTHY | LOW CARB | LOW SUGAR | VEGAN
INGREDIENTS
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 800 g canned diced tomatoes
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp fresh basil leaves
METHOD
HEAT oil in a pot over medium-low heat. Cook onion, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until soft but not browned.
ADD garlic; cook, stirring, 1 minute or until fragrant. Add tomatoes, sugar and basil; simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes or until thickened.
SEASON to taste. Blend or process if you’d like a smooth sauce.
TOP TIP: This sauce can be frozen for up to 6 months.
