Live out your diner dreams at Arthur’s Mini Super in Sea Point. This café/bar/grocer one-ups the concept of an American diner by capturing the basic look and feel… then trumping it with insane food and quirky (yet very trendy) decor. Basically, it’s the Cape Town version of a diner, which, of course, is just way cooler.

Inside, it’s all Barbie pink and red with neon lights and colour-blocked floors. The attention to detail in the shop is reflected on each plate. Because why serve bacon and eggs the boring way when you can arrange smiley faces?

The brekkie menu is banging – and the goods are served all day. Diners can choose from Green Eggs and Ham (with pesto-fried eggs, sautéed spinach and sourdough toast) or an indulgent Croque Madame (with cheese, ham and bechamel on a toasted croissant with a fried egg), to name just two options. Plant-based patrons can tuck into the Proper Vegan Breakfast (with hash brown, baked beans, grilled tomato, sautéed mushrooms and spinach, avocado and sourdough toast).

Loaves of lunch

One of the things we love most about Arthur’s Mini Super is its honorary service to bread. Their passion for the loaf has resulted in a heart-warming, hefty selection of goodies on bread. From things on toast (like the iconic Spicy Sardine Snack) to toasted sandwiches (like the Ultimate Cheese) to sandwiches (including an epic Grilled Veggie, Chicken Parm and unbeatable Club).

In addition to the special menu (included above), which features a life-changing hot dog, Arthur’s is also a grocer/deli and has a bar. You won’t be left wanting for much, here. Grab a coffee and fresh muffin or stock up on basics like milk, cheeses, (not-basic) preserves and cured meats.

Hang around to enjoy the newly-included Mini Bar. Sit and sip outside where adorable stools are studded along giant windows, or get cosy inside amongst the art. Either way, your pets are welcome, perhaps even preferred.
