Chocolate nut and orange brownies

Chocolate, nut and orange brownies are gooey, dark and delicious. Orange and chocolate are an amazing combination: rich and decadent meets sweet and fruity. These treats are to die for.

Chocolate, nut and orange brownies

Ingredients

  • Brownies

  • 125g butter, chopped
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 140g brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 90g cake flour
  • 5ml (1 tsp) baking powder
  • 45ml (3 tbsp) cocoa powder
  • zest of 1 orange, finely chopped
  • 80g pecan nuts, chopped
  • Topping

  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) fresh cream

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a square baking tray with baking paper.

Put the butter and chocolate in a small pot and stir until melted and smooth.

Mix the sugar and eggs and then add the flour, baking powder, cocoa and zest; mix to combine. Fold in the nuts.

Spoon the mixture into the baking tray and bake for about 15 minutes. Leave to cool completely.

For the topping, place the chocolate and cream in a small pot and over low heat stir until the chocolate has melted and is smooth.

Remove the cake from the tray, pour the topping over the cake and slice.
