In Pulp Fiction (1994) John Travolta’s character states: That’s a pretty f#$#$# good milkshake. I don’t know if it’s worth five dollars but it’s pretty f $#$#@ good”.  And we have to agree! This five-dollar vanilla milkshake is absolutely fantastic! 

Five-dollar vanilla milkshake

Serves: 2
Cooking Time: 5 mins plus extra for freezing

Ingredients

  • 500ml (2 cups) chilled fresh cream
  • 100ml icing sugar
  • 10ml (2 tsp) vanilla extract
  • 500ml good quality vanilla ice cream
  • 250ml (1 cup) fresh milk
  • red maraschino cherries, to garnish
  • fresh mint, to garnish

Instructions

Place the fresh cream in a large mixing bowl together with 30ml (2 tbsp) icing sugar and 5ml (1 tsp) vanilla extract.

Whisk the mixture vigorously until the mixture forms peaks. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Blend the ice cream, milk and remaining vanilla extract and sugar in a blender until smooth.

Divide between serving glasses and add a dollop of the fresh cream mixture. Serve topped with a cherry and mint.
